Eighty Plus
Synopsis
We meet Stevan in Vienna, hunting down old vinyl records by his jazz band from the ’60s. He’s long lived outside his native Serbia and often travelled across Europe playing with top-rate musicians. When the Serbian government contacts him with the offer of restitution – to return to him a family home confiscated decades earlier – Stevan goes back to his homeland. There he meets relatives, some of whom are rather keen on liberating him of this new property. More happily, he reunites with old musician buddies, including a singer he’d admired from afar. This captivating new entry in a career spanning decades and more than 50 films amply proves that Žilnik, now in his eighties himself, has lost none of his spark.
