Neon Bull

Synopsis

The unique images of the Brazilian sertão seen in this program in Black God, White Devil, Central Station, Wall, Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures or Augusto Matraga expand in new ways in Gabriel Mascaro’s Neon Bull.

The backdrop is the garment industry in the Pernambuco outback. Masculinity gets a full remix which denies the traditional male/female role models here. Widescreen photography suggests futurism and soon we understand that this is another unique take on culture and on a familiar landscape which has never quite been shown this way.
