The Mahabharata
Synopsis
In collaboration with writer Jean-Claude Carrière, Brook first brought the Mahabharata to life in a monumental, nine-hour stage production, distinguished by a vast, multi-national cast, incredible performances and brilliant direction. It had a profound influence on audiences everywhere and a lingering impact on the world of theatre. Demand to see the production remained high even after touring ceased, resulting in the film version being shot and released to acclaim. This moving portrayal of the ancient tale of the Kauravas and the Pandavas, royal cousins whose enmity threatens the entire world, is now restored after a struggle to secure the materials. A shimmering restoration to be enjoyed on the big screen.
